White Christmas Wednesday

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Irving Berlin

I realize that those of you on the East coast may not be humming along, but for many of us, white Christmases assume mythical proportions.

I well remember the Christmas Eve when my mom & I attended midnight service at our local Presbyterian church and came out to see a fresh dusting of white that had fallen while we sang Christmas Carols and partook of communion. It felt like a Christmas miracle.

This year, unfortunately, we here in central Indiana will be singing, "I'm dreaming of a wet Christmas."

sigh...

But it should be a white apres-Christmas for our family as we travel north to Michigan to celebrate the holidays with kith & kin. they are supposed to have fresh snow on Saturday to add to that already on the ground.

So today's deal is White Christmas Wednesday!

And we all know that an essential part of a white Christmas (in fact the ONLY necessary thing) is snow & ice.

Today only, buy the Snowdrift Wrap ($8) and the Icicle Scarf ($4) is yours as my gift.

Because a little snow & ice can be a good thing!

And those of you dealing with the real thing this week, buckle up, drive safe, walk carefully, and try to keep both your sense of humor and sense of wonder at nature's power and beauty.

Just to spread the joy around, I will be giving away a free pattern (of your choice - Spruce excluded) to one commenter a day through Christmas, randomly chosen by Mrs. Claus (just me - don't get too excited).

I'll announce the previous day's winner in each post this month, If you are the winner, email me your preference at susanpandorf@comcast.net and I'll email your pattern right out to you.

Doesn't that sound like a lot of fun?

Yesterday's winner is: Ikkinlala. Email me, girl...

Now aren't you glad you left a comment?

It is white in NW Indiana. We have a few inches. I envy your trip up to Northern Michigan. We have spent summer vacations in and around Benzie County, but have never spent much time up there in the winter. Have a great time!

They say no white Christmas here in central Ohio but Michigan should be lovely. We're looking for a "wet" Christmas too.

Ooh, shame on you for tempting me with patterns ... they are so lovely! We're having a wet Christmas here in Florida, too, but your post reminded me of our most magical Christmas in Maryland one year, when we had just moved up from Miami, and hadn't even had a chance to get a tree... we decided that the landscape was decorated just for us, and it was lovely! Thank you for the memory. I hope that you have a wonderful holiday, and a safe drive.

We got some snow last week and I think that was plenty for me. I've become such a snow-wimp (after growing up with lots of snow)! I wish everyone safe travel!

We are having a white Christmas here in Ottawa (Ontario) too, with more snow expected on Christmas Day.

I always feels inspired by your posts - the poems and your reflections.

thanks you

When I was growing up we lived in North Dakota for a couple of Christmases so I have had white Christmases. In the Willamette Valley of the Pacific Northwest where I live now our winters are cold and green. No snow but we did have ice this morning.

Oh Susan its freezing here, its been snowing the past few days and we are expecting temperatures to go down to -10 tonight, I just don't want to go out in it, lovely to look at though. Hugs Dawn Marie.xx

No snow here in Eastern NC, but pretty cold (for us) and it seems there will be some rain. I grew up in MN and I do not miss the snow... though I love it when my kids can enjoy it occasionally.

The snow is hanging around long enough for us to have a white christmas (the first one in many years). As long as I don't have to travel, I'm ok with it. We're expecting a wet christmas too (and it'll wash the snow right into our crawl space, thank goodness for the pump)

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

It's cold and snow covered here in CT.

Happy Holidays.

It's a white Christmas is SE Michigan, but I think it's turning into a wet day, but then ice at night, which is not nice at all!!
Safe driving to you and your family.

A white Christmas is usually only in my dreams too. It can still be merry and green, though.

It will be a white Christmas here, and I'm hoping my daughter won't have travel plans delayed as they were earlier this week while visiting her in-laws!
Hope your Christmas is Merry (and white!)

As a native Californian, we here will have a Green Christmas. By that I do NOT mean something ecological, but since Winter is our wet season, the golden hills have now turned green with newly sprouting grass. In any case, green, white, or wet, I hope that all y'all's Christmas is very merry!

Shhh... with the white christmas talk, the weather in WI is turning ugly.

Arrrgggg!!!!!! I have been so busy, I missed your green Tuesday sale. I have been hoping that you would have a sale on those patterns. I guess I'll just have to pay full price, oh well. Have a safe trip and a wonderful White Christmas.
Hugs,

No snow in the South, but we keep hoping. Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy your time with family in Michigan!

Snowdrift and icicle are beautiful patterns, and if I hadn't already bought them a few months back I'd certainly be taking advantage of your sale. I hope you have lots of takers!

How did I never notice the icicle scarf before? What beauty! Yet ANOTHER pattern to add to my wish list.

Here in Washington State (the part next to Idaho), we're grateful not to be as immobilized by snow as we were last Christmas. That's all anyone talks about in lines at the grocer, the p.o., the coffee stand. My sympathies to the rest of you!

I'd almost forgotten about the Snowdrift pattern. Oh, it is so, so lovely!

I forgot to mention, it's all white here in Nevada. Our desert forgot how it's supposed to act.

There is quite a bit of snow in Denmark, so I will at least be having a white one. Merry Christmas to everyone!
