Haul out the holly;
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again.
Fill up the stocking,
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now.
For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute,
Candles in the window,
Carols at the spinet.
Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute.
It hasn't snowed a single flurry,
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry;
So climb down the chimney;
Put up the brightest string of lights I've ever seen.
Slice up the fruitcake;
It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough.
For I've grown a little leaner,
Grown a little colder,
Grown a little sadder,
Grown a little older,
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder,
Need a little Christmas now.

How do YOU decorate for the holidays? Traditional? Avant Garde? (sp?) Red & Green bursting out everywhere? Tastefully understated?
Well, now's your chance to shine! One of my readers had a great idea!
I'm going to run a contest next December for the best "decorated" Spruce scarf.
And the winner will get every single pattern - yes, that's right - every little pea picking idea that comes out of my head - that I publish in 2010 for a prize.
We'll need a couple judges also, so bear it in mind and let me know if lace just isn't your thing but you'd like to judge.
I'm going to set up a KAL on Ravelry for the contest where we can all share ideas and links for beads & charms & such.
But you can't win if you don't play - Spruce is only available through January 3rd (have extended deadline to allow for those of us who have no time to think, let alone, knit something for ourselves this busy holiday season - um - like - all of us?!?)
Pattern is FREE, exclusively to those who purchase the entire 2009 Garden Variety series: Pampas, Rose, Delphinium, & Chrysanthemum.
The button over there on the right sidebar puts the four already released patterns in your basket and Spruce in your email on Monday.
I love December - too much fun!
So-o-o-o-o-o...
MONDAY (MONDAY!) Spruce will go out in the email to all of your hot little hands!
I blocked her last night, will write her up tomorrow and give Evelyn at Knitty Noddy time to get her up on her website before sending her merrily on her way...
Wanna peek?
OF COURSE YOU DO!

So which of the pictures should I use for the ad & the pattern front?
I'm leaning towards one of the two above.
Let me know which one you like in your comments...
Pretty please with peppermint sprinkles and jingle-bells on top?
Here are a few more for your viewing pleasure this fine December day...
NO STASH SALE TOMORROW - BUSY WITH HOLIDAY JOY & SURPRISES!
Just to spread the joy around, I will be giving away a free pattern (of your choice - Spruce excluded) to one commenter a day through Christmas, randomly chosen by Mrs. Claus (just me - don't get too excited).
I'll announce the previous day's winner in each post this month, If you are the winner, email me your preference at susanpandorf@comcast.net and I'll email your pattern right out to you.
Doesn't that sound like a lot of fun?
Yesterday's winner is: Lisa. Email me, girl...
Now aren't you glad you left a comment?

I like the pic of it laying over the basket the best....love the way the stars twinkle....come on Monday! wooohooo!
The first picture shows off the trees at their best. It also shows the stars, and the lovely star charms at the bottom. Beautiful.

Oooh!!! It *is* gorgeous!
I think the top picture of the two is the best for the pattern advertising. While the bottom is "artsy" it doesn't show the night sky portion above the trees which I think adds *so* much to the design! I also like the third photo of the ones below "for our viewing pleasure" showing the closeup. It's the best photo I've seen so far that shows the star beads and you can really see them as accents on the ends of the branches. With those two photos I'll bet the pattern almost flies out of your mailbox!
I also think it's a *great* idea to have a contest for decorating your Spruce. With all the ideas you provided yesterday, I'm sure you'll have some gorgeous designs. I'm looking forward to seeing them all and hope you will post the entries on your blog.
Just a lovely design. Top photo shows off all the elements the best. Looks just like the tree in Rockefeller Center that I pass by on my way to work. Nice job!
I like the first one!
The scarf is gorgous. I agree that the top pix best shows off the design elements of the scarf. The seasilk colors are perfect with the silver beads and stars. As usual you have scored again.
Happy holidays,
Carol
I like the picture of Spruce laying on the basket the best. Decorating at my house is traditional; Santas, a nativity scene, quilts everywhere and this year, lights on the house. Happy Holidays, Susie
Have to vote for #1 also.. but I love them all. You just keep amazing... now a special group just for Spruce, I love it! I am one of the original "love to decorate for Christmas nuts"... it starts here Nov 1 and I try to have it down before Valentine's.. no guarantees tho ;-) As far as how I decorate it evolves but have collected special ornaments for over 40 years, sorta a ice crystal victorian look to the tree which is the center of all the decs in my book.. usually takes 2-3 days just to decorate and hang all the crystal icicles... oops I digress Anyway thanks again and #1 for the pattern Anne aka vibj
I LOVE the spruce pattern. I can't wait to start knitting. I need a Christmas scarf
I like the first photo of the scarf the best.
definately feeling the love for the first pic

1500 beads?! Wow, I think that one might be beyond my abilities for now. But it's lovely!
Gorgeous! Can't wait to get the pattern. I think the second shot would be great for the cover of the pattern, and the first one would make a fantastic inside shot because it shows the details so clearly.
I love beaded lace--I may just have to join your contest next year!
Oh this spruce pattern is to die for , think it will have to go on my last minute christmas wish list that i will stick in front of my dear hubby
I agree--I like the first one! Lovely lovely pattern and I really like the beading. I'm not a big bead fan but this is really lovely

I love that "We need a little Christmas" song, especially the version in the Auntie Mame movie with Lucille Ball.
Blocking always brings out the best in lace. A lot of info to digest in this post. :o)
I can almost smell the pine it's so beautiful!
Ragdoll
The first picture is gorgeous, but so is the next-to-last one with the light shining through the trees . . . great design!
I like the second picture. Very pretty.
I like the first two pictures. They show the color best. And I LOVE the little stars!!!
love spruce. enjoy your holiday preparations tomorrow. martha
spruce really is a beautiful pattern. What a mess my queue is already packed :(
I like the 1st pic.
I love your designs. You are so talented! The Spruce is stunning.
Really nice! Can't wait to get this one.
That is a stunning scarf! So festive.
I love your pictures of Spruce
I like the second picture, and I love the pattern! Well done yet again!
I love your pics, they remind me that i don;t have a tree up yet, and how twinkly and pretty trees are once they are all lit up!
I'd go with the top picture--it really shows off the trees! And they're such cute trees, too. I love it.
I'll be truthful. I look at your blog regularly just to see your exquisite work.
I like the top picture best. It shows more of the details.charmes are up to the preference of knitter.
Of the first two--I like the first one, but I really like the one of Spruce hanging in the window and the light showing through.
I like the upper of the two pictures, but I also like one of the lower pics that really shows off the row of star beads along the edge--complete beaded AWESOMENESS!!
I think the second picture is best and now I can't get that song out of my head! Thanks :P
I think the first picture showed it off to the best advantage.
Of the two photos you like best I think the first one is better, but my favorite is the second to last picture on this date--it really looks "foresty". It's a gorgeous pattern, and I'm looking forward to playing around with the possible variations!
Oops, for some reason the above comment is anonymous when I thought I'd put my name in the proper spot! Anyhow, here I am again...
The second picture is more interesting to look at, but the top one gives a better impression of what the pattern looks like so that's the one I would stick with.
I think this is stinking naughty cute, love the first photo, but wish I could see the beading better! Congrats on a great job!!!
No1 photo shows off the little spruce trees best...so that would be my vote, but I'd also put in a close up of all those lovely beads & stars. A lovely design!!
Cheers Lois
The first pic at the very top took my breath away. What a striking scarf! Takes the scarf to a new level. Honestly don't think I have ever seen anything like it!
To make a long babble short - the top pic, awesome!
Love the new pattern. Miss the sale.
I like #3 the best but #4 might give the best idea of what the pattern is. Also, the competition is a great idea!
Oh my GOODNESS!!!!! I just found you through your new Rav group and I totally LOVE your designs!!!! I'm going to have to save some money up to get several that I see. I really haven't done much lace but, I sure want to try now!!!!
Lois
Ooh, I wish I could join the contest, but my knitting obligations overflowith right now. And, it's such a lovely pattern! I'd happly volunteer to be a judge just to see all the pretty ones everyone else makes. ... you can PM me on rav if you need help with judging!
Oh, and I think I like this picture (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZZZC_4GNw9c/SyKTmmEK4XI/AAAAAAAAI5Q/Ht3q2fNE1ZY/s400/IMG_5177.JPG) the best ... it really shows off the pattern.
"We'll need a couple judges also, so bear it in mind and let me know if lace just isn't your thing but you'd like to judge."
I would Love to be a Judge!
My vote goes with the first image, it shows the design very well!
Love the scarf, love the sparkle.
Love scarf. we have snow and all things wintery but it puts me even more into the Christmas mood. It's about to blow away good reasons not to buy the garden collection this year. Favourite pictures #1 and #5 (counting from the top)
Oh, it's so beautiful! You've done an amazing job with this one, Susan - it's amazing. Can't wait for Monday! :)
I think the second picture is the best one...it's almost like seeing the pattern in use.
For a lover of the north woods, this design is a "must-knit". My vote goes to the second photo, the one with the scarf draped over the arm of the chair.
I think it's beautiful and it doesn't look like it would be "too" difficult! I would like to see a photo that shows more of the body of the scarf as well. Is it stockinette? I'm thinking a larger version would be a stunning shawl/wrap...
;-)
I love the color that you used for this scarf---it compliments the silver beads well. Can't wait to start this next year for the KAL.
The first picture is my favorite! I also really like the 5th pic. Great scarf!
