VOTE!

"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may

cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost."

- John Quincy Adams

What are you doing here? Go to your polling place and participate in history.

But take your knitting. The wait in line could take a while...

And may God bless our republic.

Have you made your personal contribution to democracy?

OK. Now you can read on...

Poinsettia is off to Maria the wonder knitter today (Finally! I changed that thing more often than the Republicans changed strategy!) so now I can turn my attention to Sherwood, which will be out later this week.

So, what does Poinsettia look like? Last week , you'll recall, she looked like this:

The bottom border was good; the poinsettia flower pattern was good.

But the surrounding patterns were competing with rather than complementing them.

After a weekend spent in redesign, I moved the poinsettia pattern to the center of the scarf, added more plain stitches between motifs to frame them properly, and substituted a more harmonious, slightly floral looking, secondary pattern on the sides.

Notice how the upward lines of the side motifs enhance rather than detract from the downward diagonal lines of the rest of the piece.

And how the vertical texture lines of the top half of the side motifs echo the same technique used in the background of the bottom border.

Better?

To quote Sarah Palin...

"You betcha!"

Thank you so much for the reminder to vote. So important today. On another note, just wondering how the Sherwood pattern is coming? Thank you! I love your designs.

I voted a few weeks ago when I mailed my ballot which isn't quite as exciting as voting on election day. Not to mention you don't get the "I voted" sticker =( I like the changes you've made in your design, it is very uplifting. Can't wait for sherwood!!! =) Megan
